International Viewpoint, the monthly English-language magazine of the Fourth International, is a window to radical alternatives world-wide, carrying reports, analysis and debates from all corners of the globe. Correspondents in over 50 countries report on popular struggles, and the debates that are shaping the left of tomorrow.
“People in positions of power at German universities are in clear violation of widely held academic — and, frankly, constitutional — norms about political freedom and freedom of speech.”

Erdogan’s victory in the 2023 elections, despite all the hopes of the opposition, had been a source of demoralization and loss of interest in politics.

The PYD calls this region Rojava—literally meaning “land of the sunset” but also translated as “West Kurdistan.”
The PKK has continued to struggle for justice in Kurdistan. But its democratic transformation leaves much to be desired.
The following piece was written for Kojkkino, the theoretical magazine of the Greek organization DEA. Though quite long, it does not claim to cover all sides of the question. Indeed, it’s the kind of article that is never really finished and that has to be constantly reworked and supplemented. Its main objective is to stimulate collective thinking about the lessons of the successes and failures of the NPA from its birth to the present day.
International Viewpoint has published a compilation of articles on Greece and the failure of SYRIZA. In the present comment I want to deal mainly with the contribution by Alan Thornett, titled The capitulation of Tsipras leadership and the role of ‘left europeanism’. We will look, in particular, at Thornett’s assertion that the SYRIZA government was, at least potentially, an example of a “workers’ government”—as that concept was developed by the Comintern in a set of theses adopted at its third congress in 1922. I will assert that Thornett’s approach reflects both a misunderstanding of the Comintern’s text and a disorientation regarding the SYRIZA government itself.
“This is the culmination of a campaign by the German government that has been going on for months to prevent any solidarity with the people of Palestine and criticism of the German government’s military and political support for Israel.”

The arrests of the Zaragoza 6 reflect the political decision to systematically criminalize protest, seeking to punish them to instill fear. It reinforces the political power of the police and judicial apparatuses, over and above the democratic rights won through centuries of struggle.”
