The second conference of the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) took place in Glasgow on February 10-11, 2000 attended by around 250 people. Its main focus was to launch the party’s ambitious General Election plans. The conference agreed that the target should be to stand in each of Scotland’s 72 seats in the next Westminster elections - to give every Scottish voter the opportunity to vote socialist.

State, civil society and army in Israel

The Israeli citizen was ultimately there to serve the state in its war against the Arab world. This definition of citizenship marginalized both the Palestinian Arabs and the orthodox Jews, neither of who serve in the army.
The Congo in permanent instability

The military apparatus quickly designated his son, Joseph Kabila, as successor, giving rise to a certain surprise as he had never had never had a prominent political role, but there was no significant resistance to the nomination.
