Contribution from the Fourth International Caucus in the Movimiento al Socialismo (Puerto Rico)
A contribution regarding the roles and tasks of the Fourth International by Thomas Eisler, IC member Denmark.
The Greek youth movements of recent years, the revolt of suburban youth of France in 2005, or also the mobilisation against the CPE (Contrat Première Embauche, First Hire Contract) put it beyond all dispute that youth plays a particular role in class struggle at an international level.
Resolution from the RSB political secretariat, 12 November 2009. As we have explained during different International committee meetings, we have at least six major differences with this text.
These amendments aim to clarify certain points about the role of the Fourth International around the complicated issue of the relationship between our work which necessarily aims at strengthening our influence and our goal to help build new anti-capitalist and revolutionary parties and new regroupings both at European and international levels.
We have read with great interest the draft resolution produced to open a critical discussion on the Role and Tasks of the FI and we have read the responses, amendments and critiques. We find ourselves in agreement with a number of important points raised in some of these latter contributions.
The authors of this call are asking all delegates at the 2010 world congress, no matter what position they might take on the document titled “Role and Tasks of the Fourth International,” to vote in favor of the specific motion below.
The documents Report on the International Situation and Role and Tasks (we still haven’t been able to deal with Climate Change) have, from our point of view, a strong European content. So we think it is necessary that the documents dedicate more space to Latin America, that they reflect a little more the situation in the region, not only because of the high level of conflict that exists, but also because of the orientation which it is taking.
