Worldwide response to solidarity call with Baba Jan

Many signatures have been received in just 48 hours, coming from many countries. The call was published Tuesday night and this morning in Pakistan, receiving a big echo. The Supreme Court meets tomorrow Thursday. Baba Jan’s lawyers are calling for the postponement of the meeting to be able to better defend him. We continue to collect signatures. [Pierre Rousset]

Thank you for signing the petition for Baba Jan, tremendous response, with over 400 individual, organisations and political parties signing the petition with two days of launch promoted by European Solidarity Without Borders.

The “Justice for Baba Jan” international appeal has been signed by 18 parliamentarians from 9 countries including Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Tunis, Germany , Denmark and the European Parliament, and 426 prominent individuals and organizations from 49 countries. The International appeal has also been signed by 426 prominent individuals from 49 countries. Those who signed the petition include radical intellectuals like Noam Chomsky, Samir Amin, Gelbert Archcar and Luciana Genro (former senator and presidential candidate Brazil), Philippe Poutou (NPA candidate for president in recently held elections France).

A demonstration has taken place in Sri Lanka where a formal letter has been delivered to Pakistan High Commission. In Denmark, our comrades from the Red Green Alliance have raised the question in the parliament.

Yesterday, several demonstration took place in Pakistan including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Hyderabad, Milton, Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura and other places demanding justice for Baba Jan.

Tomorrow on 25th May Supreme Court of Gilgit Betistan will hear the review petition of Baba Jan against two life sentences.
